ABWA Summerville’s new website has been honored as a “Site of the Day” as selected by the resource site, SCIWAY.net. Ann Bomgren of SCIWAY said upon notifying the Jessamine Chapter of the honor, “Thanks for providing this great SC resource.”
According to SCIWAY their site is:
SCIway, pronounced “sky-way,” is an acronym for South Carolina Information Highway. It’s also the name of this website, which is the largest and most comprehensive directory of South Carolina information on the Internet.
SCIway includes thousands of links to other South Carolina web sites as well as a growing collection of maps, charts, articles, and other resources we’ve developed. It is organized by subject areas – such as education, history, jobs, real estate, and tourism – and has four goals:
- To help South Carolinians and people throughout the world find information about South Carolina quickly and easily.
- To provide information about South Carolina that isn’t available anywhere else on the Internet – and in some cases, even in print
- To celebrate the Palmetto State’s culture, people, and places.
- To create awareness about problems we face statewide … and to share resources that can help solve them.
SCIway was originally created at The Citadel in early 1996 as a learning and public service project. Since 1997 it has been privately funded, and it is now published by SCIway.net, LLC, a James Island web information company. While SCIway is in many ways a public service, it receives no government funding.

Our annual Unity Meeting was held on Monday, November 16 at the Pine Forest Country Club house in Summerville.
Representative Jenny Horne spoke to the group about the past year and issues in State government. She urged the women in attendance to become involved in politics or to seek office.
Members brought contributions for the Teacher’s Closet which provides schools supplies to teachers to distribute to their students in Charleston, Berkeley, and Dorchester classrooms.
Our own Shaun Heathman and Kathy Berman posed for a photo with the Executive Director of the Teacher’s Closet at the end of the meeting.
