Summerville, SC—Shirlie Taylor, President of The Jessamine Chapter of the ABWA (American Business Women’s Association), announces the next monthly meeting of the group.
The ABWA invites all interested area businesswomen to attend. Meetings are approximately two hours long and include a guest speaker. There is no cost for this meeting, and refreshments will be served with our compliments.

Speaker:Harriet McLeod is our featured speaker. Harriet McLeod grew up in Charleston, South Carolina, enjoying all of the things that make living in the Lowcountry great! Harriet graduated from Winthrop University and spent part of her 20s hitchhiking across Europe and teaching
English before heading to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication to earn a master’s degree.
After a stint in Virginia at a daily newspaper and crewing racing sailboats on the Chesapeake Bay on the weekends, she came home to Charleston to work as a
columnist and an editor at The Post and Courier. McLeod has won state press association awards for feature writing and a national writing award for
music criticism. She now is a full-time freelance journalist and covers South Carolina for many national news agencies.

At our May meeting we’ll be joined by Gail Montgomery from East Cooper Community Outreach well known to locals in Charleston as “ECCO” to accept our donations of professional women’s clothing and tell us a little bit about ECCO and what they do to help women re-train and/or enter the workforce.
