Minutes of June 15, 2009 ABWA Jessamine Chapter Meeting – Tomatoes Restaurant

16 members and 4 guests were present.

Chapter President Janet Collins opened the meeting at 6:30 with the ABWA mission statement.

She presented the Woman of the Year Award to Kathy Berman.

Meeting turned over to Kathy Berman, Vice President

She announced Kudos to:

Shirlie Taylor, for inducting 55 new members and being a national ABWA garnet member.

Sandy Irving for being chosen to write for Examiner.com as the Charleston Wine Examiner

Nancy Green for being elected to board of directors for Village Playhouse

Kathy then had guests and new members introduce themselves.

Sandy Irving, acting secretary, announced that minutes would be published in the newsletter for all members to review and comment on. Also noted that Debbie Philbin delivered plaque to Sweet Water, in appreciation for meeting space.

Rebecca Gooden, acting treasurer, discussed new raffle prices and let members know the books were being audited for yearly review.

Debbie Philbin, Chairwoman of the nominating committee announced slate of officers and asked for a vote on the entire slate.

Shauna Heathman – Vice President

Rebecca Gooden – Treasurer

Sandy Irving – Secretary

The membership, by verbal vote, voted unanimously for the entire slate of new officers to be installed at the July meeting.

Debbie thanked fellow committee members, Shirlie Taylor and Nancy Green, for helping to choose the slate of officers.

Shirlie Taylor will facilitate the July networking meeting. Members were asked to email networking tips to Shirlie before the next meeting.

Chrissy Morrissey presented the five minute commercial and spoke about her new venture: Super Coups of the Low-Country. She encouraged members to reach out to one another and extend referrals whenever possible.

Bette Thomas introduced Dave Echols our guest speaker.

He is General Manager and Vice President of the River Dogs and spoke about adding Fun and relaxation to the work place to increase productivity.

50/50 was won by Bette Thomas for $31.00. Door Prizes were distributed.

The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:15 pm
