2009 July Meeting Minutes
Minutes of July 20, 2009 ABWA Jessamine Chapter Meeting – Tomatoes Restaurant
14 members and 10 guests were present.
Chapter President Elect, Kathy Berman opened the meeting at 6:30 with the ABWA mission statement.
She announced Kudos to:
Shirlie Taylor, Shirlie needs to invite and sponsor four more members and she will be inducted into the ABWA National Hall of Fame
Noreen Urko, promotion in Human Resources
Kathy then had guests and new members introduce themselves.
Sandy Irving, acting secretary read and explained membership requirements.
Rebecca Gooden, acting treasurer discussed banking changes and balance in account.
Treasurer’s report:

Shirlie Taylor, past president and professional development chairwoman installed the new board of directors for the Jessamine chapter

The membership, by verbal vote, confirmed the installation.
Shauna Heathman, VP, discussed alternative meeting places. The two locations under consideration are Westcott Plantation and Legend Oaks club house. In addition, members discussed Dog and Duck. More information needs to be gathered and we will print this information in the newsletter and vote on a new location at our next meeting.
Dinner was served and enjoyed by all.
Shirlie Taylor facilitated the July networking meeting. Everyone broke into pairs to get to know each other better, then shared what they learned about their partner in the networking exercise. Shirlie then proposed a quarterly professional development seminar. The motion was made on the floor by Cheryl Smithem to accept the proposal, all members voted to proceed by a verbal vote.
It was announced that this month marks the 30th anniversary of the Jessamine Chapter of ABWA. A sheet cake with a special candle was enjoyed by everyone. Nancy Green donated the special candle.
50/50 was won by Diana Bogart. The prize was $25 as $50 was collected.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 8:25 pm
